FAQs

How do I start the booking process?

In order to submit a tattoo proposal, please fill out a consultation form under the “consult” tab and click submit. Once you have submitted your form, please make sure you do the second step of the application by sending a separate email of any reference photos, as well as a photo of the area you want tattooed, to jenntacotattoo@gmail.com . Once you have submitted, if your idea has been chosen, you will be contacted to begin the booking process.

Once I have submitted my consult form, how long should I expect to wait to be contacted?

The waiting game is understandably the hardest. However, if you have done all steps of the booking process, submitted form and reference photos, you can be assured that you will be contacted within 1-3 weeks if your idea has been selected. Please be patient as I am a one woman show.

What fees do you require in order to book and how do you dictate cost of tattoo?

In order to book, I collect a $100-$200 non-refundable deposit that comes off the cost of the tattoo the day you sit, or, if multi-session, the last appointment you have scheduled. I also collect a one time $50-$150 art fee based on drawing time to create your custom artwork that will be sent directly to you before your session.

Cost of tattoo is determined solely on how long the tattoo takes to complete. Hourly rate of $200 applies. Time begins once I have begun the stencil process.

What is your cancellation policy?

It is common courtesy to give at least 5-7 days notice if you will have to reschedule or cancel your appointment so that I can get the slot filled and drawn for. In order to retain your deposit, you must cancel AT LEAST 5 days before your appointment. If you do not, you will forfeit your deposit and have to leave another to reschedule.

If you wish to cancel your appointment all together, please be aware that you will not receive your deposit back as it is a non-refundable one time fee. If I have not begun your custom drawing and you do not wish to reschedule, I will refund your art fee only.

Your deposit will also be forfeited if you :

• Do not appear for your tattoo

• Reschedule an appointment or appointments more than 2 times

• Arrive more than 15 minutes late to an appointment and do not call to notify

• Arrive to your appointment without government-issued ID that states you are 18 years or older

• If you do not reschedule your appointment within 1 year of your canceled date

When will I see my artwork?

Your artwork will be sent to you roughly 12-24 hours before your appointment. Please be aware that I draw for the week ahead the weekend before, so you will not get your artwork any sooner than 24-48 hours before your appointment. I allot time for minor changes to design (if needed).

Do you do anything other than illustrative blackwork?

I do not. My entire focus right now is building and developing my specific blackwork style. If you are getting tattooed by me, please be aware that your artwork will be done solely in my style. If you are not interested in that, please find an artist that best suits your idea. If you send references of other artists work, please be advised that I will only use it to see what type of imagery you like, not to mimic the way they tattoo.

Do you do cover-ups?

I do not do cover-ups. Unfortunately my style does not lend well to cover-ups. I also do not re-work other artists work without permission.

What is your aftercare procedure?

Aftercare is discussed once your tattoo is completed and should be followed exactly as I say. Every artist has a different method of healing, so please only follow my instructions. An aftercare sheet with everything we go over will also be provided.

What form of payment do you accept?

Seeing as though I only make a percentage of my hourly rate, all transactions are done through the studio. They accept all major credit cards, as well as cash. If paying with a credit card, please be aware that there is a service charge that will be added to your total.

For art fees, I accept Venmo @jenntacotattoos , or they can also be paid through the studio with cash or a credit card.

Should I tip my artist?

It is completely up to you if you would like to leave a tip or not. Tips are generally a reflection of how satisfied you are with your artist and experience during your service. They are always appreciated, but never expected!

Do you have a private area where I can get my tattoo?

I have my own personal and private tattoo room that includes a door that can be left open or closed. Your privacy and experience is very important to me, so whatever makes you most comfortable during your appointment is my top priority!

How should I prepare for my tattoo?

I encourage you to

• Up your water intake a few weeks before your appointment so that your skin is hydrated and healthy

• Make sure you are well rested and feeling your absolute best. A tired, weak body will not be able to heal a tattoo like a well, rested healthy one.

• Always eat before your appointment. Try and make it something healthy and nutritious! Healthy proteins, carbs, and foods rich in vitamin K are going to be your best friends before getting tattooed.

• Avoid any sunburns, scratches, or trauma to the area you are getting tattooed. If any of these are visible, I will not be able to tattoo you.

• Avoid any alcohol and blood thinners atleast 24 hours before your appointment.

You can also avoid caffeine to make sure your skin is extra hydrated (but I know that’s a lot to ask, so I’d rather you happy than without caffeine 😅)

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfy is key. I understand wanting to look cute for your appointment (which you still can!), just make it a comfy-cozy cute. Try and wear something that allows your body to not feel constricted and that has layers incase you get hot or cold. My ink sometimes has a mind of its own, so wear something that you would be okay possibly getting ink on.

If you are tattooing a more private area, I will discuss with you different types of clothing you can wear that will allow for me to still work in the area with you as covered as possible. Your level of comfort is most important to me.
